Lui Che Woo College (LCWC) at the University of Macau organized an 11-day study trip to the United Kingdom in June 2025. The trip was designed to broaden students’ global perspectives and foster greater cross-cultural competency. With substantial support from the University of Macau Development Foundation, a delegation of 14 students and two staff members embarked on the academic journey. They resided in Clare Hall (University of Cambridge) and visited other prestigious institutions that included Oriel College at the University of Oxford, Imperial College London and University College London.

The trip began with an insightful presentation by Professor Alan Short, President of Clare Hall, and followed by specialized workshops on career development and artificial intelligence conducted by Cambridge faculty members. The group also immersed themselves in collegiate life by attending Clare Hall’s annual cricket match and formal college dinner, while cultural excursions included visits to local landmarks such as Cambridge’s Judge Business School and renowned museums.

At Oriel College, University of Oxford, which will celebrate its 700th anniversary next year, the group received a warm welcome by its college students and staff and had an in-depth tour of its historic college as well as surroundings. The tour was complemented with a lively and engaging exchange session with college members in their beautiful dining hall, served over traditional British tea and pastries. The itinerary was further enriched with a guided campus tour of the Imperial College London by its student leader and an informative briefing led by its senior international officer. Additional academic visits included University College London and the British Museum.

The study trip proved highly impactful, deepening students’ appreciation of British academic traditions and cultural heritage while equipping them with essential skills to navigate future challenges. The experience not only strengthened their confidence and resilience, but also set a benchmark for greater personal and professional growth.

This UK study trip is closely aligned with the seven competencies advocated by the University of Macau’s Residential College System, fully demonstrating LCWC’s steadfast commitment to cultivate future leaders with global vision and perspectives through immersive international learning experiences.
