Lui Che Woo College (LCWC) successfully held its second High Table Dinner of AY2015/2016 on 11 November 2015. Over 200 teachers and students came together to share their enjoyable college life. Prof. Ming-Chuen YIP (Master of LCWC), Resident Fellows, college administrative staff and students joined together to welcome our distinguished guests Prof. Haydn CHEN (Vice Rector of Students Affairs of UM), Prof. Xitao FAN (Dean of Faculty of Education), Prof. David PONG (College Master of Choi Kai Yau College), Prof. Chuan Sheng LIU (College Master of Chao Kuang Piu College), Prof. Victor Da Hsuan FENG (Director of Global Affairs Office and Special Advisor to the Rector), Dr. Peter YU (Dean of Students of Student Affairs Office), Dr. Paul POON (Librarian of University Library), Mr. Denis de Castro HALIS (Senior Instructor of FLL), Prof. JinHua JIA (Full Professor of FAH), Prof. Shaodan MA (Associate Professor of FST), Prof. See Kam TAN (Associate Professor of FAH).
Prof. Haydn CHEN who was invited as a guest speaker, presented his speech entitled “Being Educated and Civilized”. The speech emphasized that being educated and civilized is important in lives. Prof. CHEN showed a lively video to demonstrate to the audience how to be a civilized person. Prof. Chen encouraged the students that they should be enthusiastic in study. In order to be civilized, it is necessary for them to have self-reflection and learn from the mistakes. During the dinner, two college students, Ms. HO Weng Tong and Ms. LIN Jiali prepared a singing and belly-dancing performance which highlighted the atmosphere of the event.
When the dinner came to the end, College Master and college staff proposed a toast to the students for expressing the thankfulness and best wish to their studies. After the dinner, college students were eager to take photos with Masters and Fellows, which gave the dinner a memorable ending.
